ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A QUICK AND EASY WAY TO REFRESH YOUR FRONT PORCH?  LOOK NO FURTHER THAN THIS EASY DOLLAR STORE DECOR PROJECT – THE WOVEN ROPE WREATH!

Summer is nearly upon us, and that means a quick update to our front porch!  This easy woven rope wreath is just the thing to get add a pop of fun to an otherwise drab entryway!

I do have to admit, I haven’t exactly made our front porch a huge focus since moving into our house last year.  It gets swept and cleaned, but there’s no real style.  Well, that’s about to change!  This easy DIY wreath project is going to be front and centre.

When looking to add a touch of rustic charm to your home decor, DIYs are really where it’s at.  Generally budget-friendly, quick and easy to make without a lot of muss and fuss, DIY projects are the perfect thing to transition your home from season to season without a huge cost.

This woven rope wreath is no exception.

In this step-by-step guide, I’ll show you how to create a beautiful woven rope wreath using jute rope and a wire wreath frame. You can find both of these materials at your local dollar store. Plus, you’ve got options for embellishment.  You could add ribbon, a bow, or florals to make your wreath truly unique. Let’s get started!

Woven Rope Wreath Supplies

Here is the list of supplies to get you started on your first wreath.  I say first because you won’t stop at one, trust me!  The majority of these supplies are available at dollar stores, but I’ve included links in case you prefer to do your shopping online.

  • Jute rope – you can choose any thickness you like.  I used ⅜” (~10 mm) wide rope for this project.
  • Wire wreath frame – again, choose the size that fits your space.  This project is made using a 14″ (~35 cm) wire frame.
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun
  • Embellishments – ribbons, bows, or artificial flowers

Woven Rope Wreath – Step-by-Step Guide

After gathering all your supplies, it’s time to get making.  In order to keep this project simple, you’ll want to start out by cutting your rope into more manageable lengths.  I would suggest roughly 4-5 feet long.

Start the weaving process by securing one end of your jute rope to the wreath frame with hot glue.  My suggestion is to start near one of the vertical pieces on the frame.  Leave a tail of your rope approximately 2″ long and start weaving.  Once you have woven a section roughly 3″ wide, you can add a drop of hot glue to the starting tail of the rope and secure it to the back of the wreath.

Continue weaving until you reach the end of the rope section and secure it with hot glue.  Start again with the next piece of rope and continue weaving until you reach the end of the wreath frame.  Be sure that as you are weaving, you’re keeping the rope tight.  You don’t really want gaps where the wire of the frame can show through.

Once you’ve woven the rope all the way around, secure the endpoint.  Trim the rope and use hot glue to tuck the tail in.  You may want to take a quick look at the back of the wreath at this point and make sure that all loose strands of rope have been secured with hot glue.

Create a hanger for your wreath by using a piece of rope roughly 18″ long.  Secure the ends to the back to form a triangle when the wreath is hanging.

Now it’s time to add some extra flair to your wreath! You can attach a bow, ribbon, or even artificial flowers using hot glue. Get creative and personalize your wreath to match your style and the occasion.

And the final step? Hang and enjoy your new decor piece! Find a perfect spot to display your woven rope wreath. You could hang it on your front door or porch, above your fireplace, or anywhere you want to add a rustic touch. Be sure to stand back and admire your beautiful creation!

Creating a woven rope wreath is a quick and easy budget-friendly project. With just a few simple materials and some creativity, you can make stunning decor for your home.
