TIRED OF FEELING LIKE CHRISTMAS JUST SNUCK UP ON YOU? MAKE USE OF A HOLIDAY PLANNER AND GET ORGANIZED FOR THE BEST CHRISTMAS EVER!
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been wanting to use a Holiday Planner to get myself together for Christmas. And yet, last year especially, I just never seem to get there. I’ve certainly given it a try, but there was always something missing.
So naturally, what did I do? I created my own! And I want to share with you just how amazingly organized you can be for Christmas by using this awesome little tool!
What’s a Holiday Planner?
Simply put, it’s a way to plan out the holidays! In this case, Christmas. In our home, as with most people that I know, Christmas continues to be the biggest, busiest and most overwhelming holiday of all. Halloween is certainly creeping up there, but I don’t know a lot of people that give gifts in October. Thanksgiving and Easter require thought and careful planning, but not to the level of Christmas.
With so many moving parts, it can be easy to overlook certain details and events. And if you’re like me, you’ve got Pinterest boards full of ideas to try “next year”. But somehow, those plans never come to fruition! Usually, it’s because I forget about them by the time November of the following year rolls around.
But NOT this year!
How do I use a Holiday Planner?
What I love about this Planner is that it is customizable. Because it comes in digital format – an easily-downloaded pdf file – you can use what you need and skip what you don’t!
In our family, we have certain traditions – a party on Christmas Eve, buying gifts for everyone (and we have a rather large family) and a long-standing list of movies that are MUST-WATCH every year! So how do you balance all of it?
By choosing which pages to print, you can have a place to record EVERYTHING you want to do, have and eat.
Planning several holiday parties? Print multiple copies of the Party Planning page. Don’t send Christmas cards? Skip that page! You see where I’m going with this.
For me, I like to create a blend of old and new. I love our tried-and-true Christmas cookie recipes, but I also want to add a new recipe or two into the mix. I have a spot in my Holiday Planner to track my baking, which is separate from the actual Christmas menu.
The best possible suggestion I can make to use a Holiday Planner effectively is to take some time and fill in what you can ahead of time. Print the pages you need and get started. You could even get yourself a super-cute Christmas binder to keep your pages in – how fun is that? Pour that cup of coffee, put on the Christmas music and start planning. If you find that you need different pages, go ahead and print them! But the earlier you can start planning, the more organized you will be! And organized at Christmas time equals a Joyous Holiday, in my books!
Why do I need a Holiday Planner?
Simply put, Christmas can be a very stressful time of year. I think we all know that. Having a Holiday Planner is much like having a guide through the season. By setting your budget, to-do lists and menus ahead of time, you are taking out some of the guesswork and stress of last-minute decisions. Track gift ideas for your loved ones, and keep note of whether they are purchased, ordered or shipped. Keeping notes will keep your sanity through it all!
