Happy March!  This is the month that brings us Spring, sometimes Easter and always my birthday.  And this year, I’m bringing you cute free printables for St Patrick’s Day!  I also came up with a fun little project to show you how to use my free printables to decorate for March 17!

I absolutely love coming up with new ways to add fun seasonal accents throughout our home.  Especially fun is finding ways to do it on a budget!  And this project is no exception.

Project Supplies

I made this project with supplies from my favourite local dollar store!  I’m including some links below to similar products on Amazon, in case you don’t have access to a good dollar store!

To make things easy, I’ve created a video to show you just what I did.  You can watch it here:

Here are the Steps!

Step 1

Paint the box, inside and out.  Choose whatever colour you like!  I used white, because it’s simple and my printable is on white paper, so I didn’t want a different paint colour bleeding through.  I didn’t paint one side, which is the base.

Step 2

Paint the feet.  I like to put on plastic disposable gloves for little jobs like this.  Just put the paint right into your hands with the blocks and roll them around until they are covered.  Then you can toss the gloves, and cleanup is a breeze!

Step 3

Attach the feet to the unpainted base using your hot glue gun.  If you don’t have a hot glue gun, you can use craft or wood paint as well.

Step 4

Add any embellishments inside the box.  I used hot glue to attach a small foam shamrock.

Step 5

Download my FREE printable for St Patrick’s Day from my Member Vault, print and apply using ModPodge.  Cover the back, place your printable and allow it to sit for a few minutes.  Then put a thin layer of ModPodge over top of the image as well.  Keep in mind, although it looks mucky right now, it will dry clear.

Step 6

Use your hot glue gun to attach the cauldron to the inside of the box.  Fill the cauldron with coins or goodies as you choose.

Step 7

Add any extra embellishment to the top of the box.

Step 8

Style your favourite tiered tray for St Patrick’s Day!

Such a quick, easy and cute project for anyone to make!  Of course, this printable is extremely versatile – you can use it in this craft but you can also:

  • Print and frame it
  • Make disposable placemats
  • Create fun cards or postcards to send to your family or friends
  • Use as party invitations, when it’s safe to do so

This is why I love seasonal printables – there’s really no end to what you can do with them!
