In the three years that I’ve been creating cross-stitch patterns, my Snowflake Ornament Collection has been a perpetual best-seller.  In fact, to date, the collection accounts for roughly 70% of my sales in my Etsy shop!  Stitchers love these simple but elegant patterns!

About the Snowflake Ornament Cross Stitch Patterns

  • Skill Level: Beginner
  • Finished Design Sizes: These patterns are all roughly the same, approximately 2 ½ inches when stitched on 14-count Aida cloth
  • Stitches Used: full cross-stitch only, no backstitching

These easy patterns are perfect for beginner stitchers, but they’re also great little pieces to add to a larger project if you like.

In this video, I highlight my Fall Pumpkin cross-stitch pattern, but you can see what is included in each of my patterns!

Materials and Tools

These snowflakes require the following materials. Remember, though, that cross-stitch is a personal journey, so feel free to change up the colours of threads or cloth if you like and bring your unique touch to the design with your preferred materials!

Fabric: I chose white 14-count Aida, but choose what suits your style and decor.

Threads: DMC is my absolutely go-to for floss, but of course, you can choose the brand you love most.  There are a number of online tools that will convert the numbers to the brand of your choice.  These patterns are shown using Christmas Red on white cloth, but think how beautiful they would look finished in white thread on navy blue, black or red cloth!

    • DMC 321 – Christmas Red

Needles

Embroidery Scissors

Embroidery Hoop: Hoops are totally optional.  I have always used a hoop, but I tried going without for this project and it turns out I really like it!  For these snowflake ornaments, you can create the design and ornament in the same hoop.

Highlighter or Marking Pen

Magnifier or Light
