The countdown continues – we’re nine more sleeps until Christmas!  I’ve wrapped up all my projects for the year, and I wish I could say the same thing for my gifts.  I’m a little behind on my wrapping but it always comes together in the end.

This past week, it’s snowed a few times, which has really helped to add to the holiday feeling in our home.  Hubby and I curled up on the couch two nights in a row and watched The Santa Clause and The Santa Clause 2, two of my favourite Christmas movies of all time.  What are your favourites?

Next week, as we get closer to the big day, I’ll be busting out the classics like White Christmas, Miracle on 34th Street (only the original, please), and It’s a Wonderful Life.  Of course, these will need to fit in between hockey games (GO KINGS GO!) 😉

A few nights ago, we enjoyed a visit to my sister’s house to view her gorgeous Christmas decorations and partake in a delicious charcuterie meal.  Her family does a weekly spread, which is something that we might start doing in the new year!

The advent exchange with my mom and sisters marches on.  I’ve received even more quilting items.  Look at this cute little bundle of Mini Charms.

Trust me, I’ve started designing a few patterns to make use of Mini Charms and Fat Quarters.

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before now, but this year I decided to treat myself to the Missouri Star Quilt Company Advent Calendar.  I know a lot of you probably have ordered it as well, and on the off-chance that you aren’t opening it until Christmas Day, I don’t want to ruin any of the fun.  But be sure to tune into my YouTube channel during the week following Christmas, when I’ll be showing EXACTLY what I got!

I’ve also taken the opportunity to give myself a couple of fun little gifts!  I think I’ll be diving into this Pretty Playtime Quilts book and this Jolly Bar right after Christmas!  Bonus – the Jolly Bar comes with a free pattern!

I also got one more pattern in my advent calendar that I’m super excited to make, but I’m definitely going to be taking my time with it.  It combines two of my favourite things – quilting and Disney!

You can order your own copy of My Small World by Jen Kingwell from the Fat Quarter Shop!

I haven’t done ANY baking so far this year.  And I’m not sure that’s going to change in the next week.  This year, time really has gotten away from me, and a lot of the things I had planned to do are already being put on a list for next year.

A few years ago, I put together a round-up of Christmas cookie recipes that are so delicious.  You may want to try them all!  I did, and oh my goodness.  Amazing.  Well, now I just want to go bake cookies!

Last week, I told you that I’m headed to Florida at the end of January to visit Universal Studios and Walt Disney World.  Pretty excited!  But what’s a girl to do when she’s at home and not in Disneyland?  Wear Disney Christmas clothes and slippers, of course!  I picked up these adorable Disney Christmas slippers when I was in California this past October and couldn’t wait until time to break them out of their packaging.

I’ve almost finished my current read, All I Want for Christmas by Maggie Knox.  I’m enjoying it even more than I thought I would!  Next up on my must-read list is Simple Gifts, a collection of short stories by Jude Deveraux, Judith McNaught and a few others.  I reread these stories every few years because I just enjoy them so much.  Do you reread your books?

For my morning reading, I’m nearly finished You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero.  Waiting in the queue is Atomic Habits by James Clear.

The next celebration I have coming up, aside from Christmas and New Year’s, of course, is the anniversary of this blog!  I’ve been blogging since 2019, but to say that I wasn’t taking it very seriously would be a slight understatement.  But that all changed on January 1, 2021, when I rebranded to Our Little Handmade Home.  It’s hard to believe that this website will be three years old already.

Our Little Handmade Home (or OLHH, as I like to call it) has definitely seen some changes over the past three years.  We moved from a small condo to a four-bedroom home, which nearly tripled our floor space.  I’ve renovated my office here in our current home and relocated my sewing room into what used to be my husband’s cave.  Our only daughter got married in 2022, and we welcomed our first grandbaby to our family in the Spring of this year.

My latest project and pattern is this gorgeous Starburst Christmas Pillow Cover!

As it continues to grow, OLHH is becoming a member of the family.  Weekend mornings often include some discussion about the direction of my work and let me tell you, I’m excited to see where it goes!

I’ve got some big plans for 2024 and I can hardly wait to share them with you!

Last week, I shared some of my most popular posts from my 12 Days of Christmas in July series.  Here are a few more posts that are extremely popular over on my YouTube channel:

Thanks for joining me for Show and Tell.  I’ll have LOTS more to share with you next week!  In the meantime, try your best to slow down and enjoy the season ❤️
