IT’S SHOW AND TELL TIME AGAIN!  FIND OUT WHAT’S HAPPENING WITH LIFE IN OUR LITTLE HANDMADE HOME AND BEYOND ❤️

Well, once again, another week has flown right by.  At least I feel like I got a little more done around here!

We are well into the grey days of February and with that comes the overwhelming desire to hibernate, read and sew.  So at least one of those things is productive.

Our cat Taylor decided she needed to help me start the designs of a new quilt pattern.

The hibernating is relatively easy for me right now.  I worked my last shift at the local quilt shop this past Thursday.  As much as I enjoyed getting out of the house, it was becoming too much for me.  Our daughter is embarking on starting her own business, and I’ve committed to watch Miss P for a full day during the week and likely one day on the weekend as well.

While there’s nothing better than baby snuggles on a chilly Wednesday, it’s not really conducive to getting a lot of work done!  Something had to give, so I’ll be working exclusively at home again!

On that note, what exactly did I get up to this week?

QUILTING

If you haven’t seen it yet, my Hourglass Quilt Block tutorial is up.  I love this block.  It’s so crisp and clean and like most blocks, you can make it very plain or very scrappy.  So much fun!  I hunkered down in my sewing room on Friday, and here’s what I got done.

CROSS-STITCHING

I’m still waiting for my finger to be fully healed before picking up any of my WIPs, but my wish list is getting longer by the day!  One visit to the Cross Stitch Shop of the Fat Quarter Shop and my cart was very full!

DECORATING

I’ve finally unpacked everything from Florida and our Disney room is taking shape quite nicely.  I do have a few gaps, though, so good thing I’ll be in California in April!

ORGANIZING

These days, it often feels like I don’t know if I’m coming or going.  It’s a good thing I’ve got my planner trio to keep me on track!  Trio, you ask?  Here’s what I use:

  • Five-Subject Notebook – this is the perfect tool for my businesses.  Each section allows me to plan a leg of my business and gives me the space to jot down ideas, patterns, plans, etc.  Plus, the 24 x 15 cm size makes it small enough to toss into a purse or my carry-on.
  • Daily Planner – this no-frills agenda gives me the space to write my to-do lists for each day.  Anything that doesn’t get done gets carried over to the next day.
  • Living Well Planner – without a doubt, this is the BEST planner I’ve ever had.  This is where I plan my vacations, family commitments, personal activities and appointments and any hard-and-fast business deadlines.

It might seem like overkill, but it works for me.  What is your planner system?

WHAT I’M READING

I’m still working my way through the Medlar Mysteries, and it’s taking me longer than usual.  More often than not, I’m falling asleep after only a few pages.  I may need to start breaking up my day and reading as a coffee break in the afternoon.  Although, my chair is pretty comfy, so that might not be the best idea!

For my morning reading, I’m about to start Atomic Habits by James Clear.  I’m excited to see what I can learn and implement.

I’m also thinking about curating a must-read list for both morning and evening.  And yes, this will include Audiobooks.  Something else I’ve been looking into is getting myself a Kindle or some sort of ereader.  I think it might be perfect for travel and for those nights when I can’t sleep but turning on the lamp to read would wake my husband.  I’ll let you know what I decide!

CELEBRATIONS

We’re only a few weeks away from a very special milestone – Miss P is turning ONE!  It’s so remarkable to see her grow and learn each day and we’ll be celebrating in style!  I’ll be sharing some fun details as we prep for her “Fairy First Birthday” 🧚‍♂️ 🎂

DISNEY

As I mentioned earlier, we’re headed to Disneyland in April.  My daughter, my mom, me, and Miss P will go on this trip – it’s a four-generation girls’ trip!  So excited to see Miss P’s reactions to everything!  We were there in October of last year, but she was really too small to enjoy much of it.  Plus, we were there during a heat wave, so it was all a little overwhelming for her.  This year, the weather should be cooler and she’ll be bigger, so it will be good fun for everyone!

I can’t wait to see Miss P’s reaction to “it’s a Small World” at Disneyland!
