I’m not sure if you’ve noticed this about me yet or not, but there are two things I don’t like very much. One is paying a lot for cleaning products. The second is paying for products that are made from ingredients I can’t pronounce. Anyone with me on thist? I’ve been removing chemical cleaners from our home for some time now. Every time one goes out the door, I need to replace it. So today I’m going to show you how to make a simple home cleaning scrub, perfect for tough jobs!
Sometimes you might need a little extra elbow grease or a cleaner that goes just a little deeper. This simple home cleaning scrub fits the bill!
What You’ll Need
This cleaner is seriously easy to make. A Household Cleaner, baking soda, vinegar, high-quality Lemon Essential Oil
and a jar are all you need. Yeah, that’s it. Crazy simple, quick to make and works like a dream. A printable version of the recipe is at the bottom of this post.
This recipe can easily be doubled, tripled, quadrupled, etc., depending on the size of jar you have to keep it in, and how often you think you might use it. The jar I use is a 500 mL jar (2 cups), and the recipe doubled fits perfectly. I mixed it right in the jar – having the wide-mouth jar works best for this. If your containers are not wide-mouth, just mix it in a bowl and transfer it over. You can use any jars you might have from food products – spaghetti sauce, jam, etc.
How It Works
The magic of this scrub is the baking soda. It provides some grit without being overly abrasive. You do need to be sure you rinse well after using, as the baking soda can leave a residue. And lemon oil is so good for degreasing and cleaning up pretty much anything!
We are coffee drinkers, and no matter how many times we rinse the sink after dumping out the bottom of the coffee pot, there always seems to be a mess. This scrub makes it as easy as wiping the sink out, no scouring necessary! LOVE IT! I use the smallest amount possible on any job – kitchen sink, bathtub or toilet, and then add a bit more if I find that I need it. After all – waste not, want not, am I right?
