IT’S TIME TO GET YOUR SEASONAL STITCHING IN GEAR — AND HARVEST PATCH IS JUST THE PATTERN TO KICK THINGS OFF.
The Harvest Patch Quilt Pattern is a fun and festive design that’s perfect for fall. With warm, whimsical prints and classic patchwork elements, this pattern is ideal for seasonal decorating. It finishes at approximately 42 inches square, which makes it just the right size for a wall hanging, the back of a loveseat, or even a cheerful hallway accent.
The sample you see here was sewn and quilted by me, using two lovely collections from Moda:
- Harvest Wishes by Deb Strain — featured in the teal and navy prints used for the pinwheels, 4-patch blocks, and the binding.
- Blizzard by Sweetwater — used throughout the quilt top as the snowy background fabric.
This was also my very first time quilting with a long arm machine! I decided to give it a try with this project, and I have to say I’m really happy with how it turned out. Whether you opt for straight-line quilting, free-motion designs, or something completely custom, you can finish your Harvest Patch Quilt Pattern any way you like.
One of my favourite things about this quilt is how little fabric it requires. For this version, I used:
- ½ yard for each of the pinwheel prints
- ¼ yard for the dark blue in the 16-patch blocks
- ⅜ yard for the lighter blue in the 4-patch blocks
- ⅝ yard for the background fabric
When you add your binding and backing, the total fabric needed is still quite manageable — perfect for shopping your stash or working with fat quarters or yardage you already love.
The Harvest Patch Quilt Pattern is now proudly hanging in my hallway, and it really brought the space to life. It added just the right touch of seasonal charm to an area that had been looking a little plain. I’m planning to install a drapery rod soon, which will make it easier to swap out quilts throughout the year.
But let’s be honest — I think this one might be sticking around until my Halloween quilt is ready.
